Out Of The System

"I gave up almost 90% of what I used to own and I am happier than before.. I did not really need those things that I owned and Auroville has taught me that; to differentiate between need and want. ."

Kshitij came to Auroville and tried exploring the Auroville life just as many of the tourists that come here to do the same. But only a handful of them stays back, and a few take the step to shed their old life, of all the comfort they had back home.  A friend led him to Auroville Consulting and the rest is history.

” I applied in AVC as a filmmaker as film making has been a passion that I wanted to explore but life had different plans for me. AVC intrigued me hugely because it is a rare case to see a unit which is thriving and is commercial but the whole work is towards sustainable development on a huge scale and is environment-friendly. I have not seen any successful story like this outside Auroville and definitely, not on this scale and thus, I decided to join AVC in the department of IT. The SOLAR VILLAGE Project was in the pipeline for almost 2 to 3 years and we decided it is high time to start this project and it began.

If I have to explain life before Auroville in one single word, it would be Materialistic. All the things that I took for granted back home suddenly became very essential for me. I gave up almost 90% of what I used to own and I am happier than before. I did not really need those things that I owned and Auroville has taught me that; to differentiate between need and want. You do not need a ton of things to be happy. I got rid of my habit of hoarding things and buying things. I have not bought a single piece of clothing for a year and well, I am neither complaining and nor unsatisfied with my life.

Coming back to Solar Village, India especially Rural India have huge environmental and health repercussion due to the lack of consistent electricity supply and electric consumption is related to economic growth and that is why I believe in Solar Village and its vision to solarise 100 villages by 2030. Currently, Solar Village Search Engine is a prototype and we have been working very hard to make this as much user friendly as we can and we do believe that we can definitely provide a better search engine. My VISION for SV search engine is instead of particularly providing a platform for search, we can also use it extensively for research purpose and make it more substantial and that is one of a kind Search Engine.”

Let us pray and hope that Kshitij’s words come true and we have villages that are thriving and they can function at optimum capacity.
